Staying a Week in Ty Capel

TY CAPEL

A substantial detached house and very sturdy. Always winters well and is always the first house ready to let.

Ty Capel which means the chapel house was used as the minister's house. The Rev John 'Enlli' Williams and his wife lived here during the latter part of the 19th Century where they raised five children.

It is said that the Rev Williams would often be consulted by the Island owner Lord Newborough about development proposals for the Island and was once reputed to have convinced Lord Newborough that the islanders would rather have a new chapel rather than a new quay or new lime kiln.

This is the house, during the summer, to see the sunset flooding through the Celtic Crosses in the cemetery before the sun sinks softly behind the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland.

Bedrooms 1 x D, 2 x 2s, 1 x 1s

images of the rooms

The close proximity of the garden to the Abbey means that plants which were considered by Augustinian monks during medieval times to have health benefits continue to grow in the garden today.
